Hospitality Center at Kootenai Health
Affordable, local lodging for patients and their families.
Kootenai Health’s main campus, located in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, has experienced significant growth in the past few years. As more patients from outside the county seek care at this facility the need to address the complex lodging needs for out-of-town patients has become clear.
Community Cancer Fund and Michael Green Architecture have partnered with Katerra to develop, design, and construct a Hospitality Center on the northwest corner of the Kootenai Health campus that will provide a “home away from home” space where all Kootenai Health patients can stay for little to no cost. The center will have easy access to walking trails as well as a shuttle service taking guests to various campus locations.
The Hospitality Center is comprised of two facilities: Walden House and the Ronald McDonald House, as well as parking, a shared, secured reception, and an administrative area. Walden House will house 13 suites with 1 or 2 beds, a shower, and bathtub. Patients can enjoy common kitchen, dining, living, laundry, and fitness areas for adult outpatients and their families. The Ronald McDonald House is comprised of 6 accessible suites with 2 beds, a shower, and bathtub, as well as common kitchen, dining, and laundry areas for families of pediatric patients.
The Kootenai Health Hospitality Center will be constructed entirely of CLT.
