Lord Aeck Sargent ADARC Project Delivers BSL-3 Laboratory Contributing to COVID Research

Katerra Architecture Partner Lord Aeck Sargent helped deliver a project this Spring that is impacting COVID-19 research and treatment development. Their recent work for the Aaron Diamond AIDS Research Center at Columbia University delivered collaborative spaces along with new laboratory space for renowned virologist Dr. David Ho. This marks the second time the firm has developed research space to support Dr. Ho and the Center. Dr. Ho, renowned for his breakthrough contributions to the treatment of AIDS, is now engaged in developing treatment for COVID-19—in a space designed by Lord Aeck Sargent that includes a BSL-3 Laboratory. Katerra CLT Achieves Declare Labelling

Katerra is proud to announce Declare Labeling of our Cross-laminated timber (CLT) products under the Living Future Declare Program. Our team’s efforts in achieving the Declare Label underlines our commitment to transparency and chain of custody stewardship of our supply chain.

Katerra Completes Factory Manufactured Infosys Office Complex at Bengaluru

This month marked the completion of an ambitious 1.6 Million sq. ft. commercial office space for global IT major, Infosys. Katerra’s delivery of the Infosys office building is a great example of offsite manufacturing using precast concrete modules built in Katerra’s fully integrated manufacturing facility in Krishnagiri, Tamil Nadu, India.

Katerra’s unique offsite construction technology allowed the project to be delivered 50% faster than traditional construction. Offsite factory construction delivered against a goal to dramatically reduce material waste on the project as well. Read more.

July Project Updates

Arizona

RendezVous Urban Flats

July marked the completion of the RendezVous Flats in Tucson AZ. An Aerie Development project, designed by The Davis Experience and built by Katerra, this 6-story 121,00 square foot market rate residential space includes 104, one and two-bedroom apartments and 4,200 square feet of mixed-use retail and community amenities.

Arizona

The District at Chandler

Also completed this month, The District at Chandler is a 4-story, 320-unit complex in the heart of Price Corridor, the booming hub of Southwest technology and innovation. Developed by Kaplan Management the property amenities include work and recreation spaces. The apartment and townhome units include a technology package and smart-home features.

Langford, BC

EMCO Headquarters

Katerra CLT was recently installed at the EMCO Warehouse on Vancouver Island. The 5-ply panels were prefabricated offsite within 1-mm tolerance to the project architects’ designs. The mass timber installed in less than two weeks, helping to create one of the first ever mass timber industrial spaces in Canada.

Katerra is the only company with a 5-ply flat panel CLT product that is fire-rated for up to two hours—double the industry average. All products have been tested to meet or exceed all ANSI/APA PRG 320 standards for strength, seismic, fire, vibration and acoustic performance. Learn more.

Virginia

Ballston Place

The latest phase in the Ballston Place renovation is complete. In the heart of Arlington, VA the project was focused on renovating community areas including common areas such as an Amazon locker-equipped lobby package room, conference room, and newly completed outdoor pool and amenity space. The pool renovation included custom-built integrated seating, pool house, lamella privacy screens, platform deck, and multiple pergolas. Learn more.

Washington

Reedo Building

Built in 1904 the Reedo Building is located in the heart of historic Pioneer Square in Seattle. The Katerra Renovation and design teams worked to unify and refit 25,000 sq. ft of office space over three floors, incorporating the original open-beam ceilings and brick walls into a flexible, contemporary design. The scope included remediation of pre-existing conditions including previous restoration from an earthquake in the early 2000’s as well as the original post and beam framing.
